A night of illusions
- 19th August 2016
- 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm
107 Redfern Street, Redfern, NSW, 2016
Watch static images move and twist before your very own eyes. Feel your body change size and shape. Confuse your brain as you step into a realm that challenges your assumptions and messes with your perception.
The evening will feature a number of interactive demonstrations followed by talks and discussions with:
Dr Astrid Zeman – computational neuroscientist who works with illusions in artificial brains
Dr Tatjana Seizova-Cajic – studies human perception
Dr Lee Walsh – neurophysiologist and developer of the moving rubber finger illusion
Dr Susan Wardle – visual neuroscientist looking at how our brains create a visual experience of the world
Kim Ransley – PhD candidate researching spatial attention in the reading process
Dr Sarah McIntyre – sensory neuroscientist, specialising in touch and body senses
Erika Contini – PhD candidate studying brain patterns associated with seeing and recognising objects
Dr Vince Polito – studies cognitive control in altered states of consciousness such as hypnosis, flow and virtual reality.
