The Thinking Cap aka The Brain Beanie
- Mr Julian Matthews & Ms Anna Provost
- Overall winner | Winner textile category
It was the evening of Wednesday 18th of June, 2014 and the artists sat at their kitchen table nursing mugs of warm tea whilst brainstorming entries for the CIBF art competition. Crimson-eared from the cold, they cursed their decision to move from the subtropical climate of Brisbane to this absurd Melbourne winter when a brilliant spark of inspiration suddenly struck the pair. Schematics were hastily drawn on a discarded Twinings Earl Grey wrapper and work commenced in earnest on the brain beanie that would solve both their troubles. Three weeks and dozens of tea-bags later their efforts were rewarded with the piece you see in front of you but they realised, in startling horror, that a single beanie of such diminutive proportions was going to do little to alleviate the thermic concerns of two people. At least next time they’ll have their thinking cap.
